The Olive tree of old age often is a gnarled tree. It is widely spread in the Mediterranean and has been cultivated since ancient times. In old scriptures it is called 'oil tree'. Moreover the Olive tree is considered a symbol of peace (Dove with olive twig). Olive trees are useful plants, cultivated intensively on account of the olives. Optically an Olive tree with its lanceolate, gray green, silvery shining leaves and the rather plain blossoms is a very popular container plant. It can be cultivated indoors.
