Ravenala madagascariensis - Tree of the Travellers

The Ravenala madagscariensis often is called a palm but it is actual not a palm. It belongs to the Strelitzia Family. This plant can reach a height of 15 m. For travellers on Madagaskar this plant could always supply sufficient water in the base of its leaves, which resemble banana leaves. This is the origin of its name. In modern architecure this plant can be used indoors to create design accents.
